        Opportunities for Chenango, Inc. provides a Pre-Kindergarten program for children
        who reside in the Afton Central School District. Funding for this program comes from
        the State Education Department through the Universal Pre-K initiative. Children who
        are one year year before school age, and live in the Districts, are eligible for this
        exciting Early Childhood experience. Children participate in emergent literacy and
        school readiness activities while socializing with their peers in the part-day school

        Early Head Start is a federally funded and locally operated program in Chenango
        County for pregnant women and children ages birth to three. Communities are served
        by a home based program that encourages parents to observe and celebrate their child's
        developmental growth. This comprehensive child development program offers an Early
        Head Start Home Visitor who works with parents and children in the family's home on
        a weekly basis. It further provides a group experience twice a month, including
        socialization, training and field trips. Early Head Start operates year round.

        Universal Pre-K initiative and is Norwich's third year. Children will participate
        in activities to strengthen the development of skills in reading/writing readiness,
